Harmful gender norms learned in early childhood often lead to the normalization of silence and unequal power dynamics later in life. Rural communities, in particular, face a higher vulnerability to these entrenched norms. Recognizing that preventing violence must start in childhood, the Africa Advocacy Foundation (AAF) offers an innovative early intervention approach through the Play4Respect program.

At Africa Advocacy Foundation Kenya, we use the power of sport and physical activity to create safe and equal opportunities for young people. In partnership with schools across Western Kenya and the Nyanza Region, we combine football, netball, and structured dialogue to promote respect, positive masculinity, and the prevention of violence against women and girls (VAWG).
